Clamp-Jackets from PYI
==========================================
Like many of you, we do much of the maintenance on our boat ourselves. We know all too well the cuts, scrapes, and general soreness associated with keeping a boat operating in cruising condition. There's always a BIG bottle of Advil onboard!
At a recent boat show, we found a simple solution to reduce those nasty cuts we've all had from the sharp end of hose clamps. It's called the Clamp-Jacket. The Clamp-Jacket is a simple idea - a high-quality rubber cover for the end of hose clamps. The material is designed to withstand the conditions in any engine room or any place else on a boat. They are, quite honestly, wonderful and we use them everywhere.
So we approached PYI Inc., the manufacturer, and asked how we could let you know about this great product. They offered to give any Captain with 50 points a sample of both sizes of Clamp-Jackets for free! All you need is 50 points - and that's pretty easy. Just write 5 reviews!
It's a limited offer while supplies last and will probably run throughout the Summer. So make your reviews and updates now - it might just save you a few Band-Aids!
If you already have 50 or more points, you qualify for the award - you'll get an email about it shortly.
More info about the Clamp-Jacket product is available here: http://www.clampjacket.com/
ActiveCaptain Hats
==========================================
The ActiveCaptain hats with our new logo arrived last week and we've been sending them out to our most active Captains. We think they look great! If you have qualified to receive an ActiveCaptain hat (free with 250 points) you should have received an email requesting your shipping information. If you have not received an email, check your SPAM folder - also make sure to add us as a "safe sender." If you are still having trouble please email us.
Keep adding your knowledge to the ActiveCaptain web site and watch for other valuable things you can do with your points. Remember - every review is now worth 10 points so tell your fellow Captains what you think!
For 50 points you get Clamp-Jackets - 250 points gets you an ActiveCaptain hat - and just wait and see what you can do with 100 points - coming next! So keep adding those updates and reviews!
Another Author Among Us
==========================================
We've known Capt. Mike Maurice for about 10 years. He's a professional delivery captain and detail freak - the type of person you want when you're in a difficult situation on a boat. Mike has been an early software tester for us. He's a software developer's worst nightmare and best tester - if there's something wrong with your software, Mike will find it.
A couple of years ago, Mike wrote a book called, "Smuggling Your Boat Out of Jail" - a guide to the rules and regulations when moving your boat between US states and among different countries. We never really thought much about the issues - we thought we were following the rules and have always tried to be good citizens.
He recently sent us a copy of the 200 page book. With each page we read we had the same reaction: "I didn't know THAT could be an issue!" Mike has laboriously compiled the information you need to be completely legal as you move your boat out of its home waters. He provides practical checklists of things to have handy as well as tables of phone numbers and contacts for any situation you'll find yourself in while cruising. There are hundreds of URL references to the law texts as well as links for more information on all subjects.
If you cruise with your boat to neighboring US states, you really should have this book. If you cruise your boat to neighboring countries, you must have this book. It's not a book that we'll keep on a bookshelf at home either. It's going to end up right next to our helm!
In this case especially, Mike's freakish detail orientation is a true benefit to all of us. Check out the book at:
