ActiveCaptain loves Navimatics for iPhone/iPad
=================================================
This is an incredible announcement. You know how much we love mobile technology. Today Navimatics' iPhone and iPad apps, Charts&Tides, was released by Apple. They include full, integrated, offline, and synchronized support for ActiveCaptain.

We want to be clear, we receive no fees, payments, royalties, nothing. We've worked with Navimatics on the integration and have tested it for several months. Our endorsement is strong because we flat out love the product. It puts the entire ActiveCaptain database of marinas, anchorages, bridges, boat ramps, hazards, etc., plus all the reviews and comments in your pocket. No internet connection required once the data has been downloaded. Having hazard markers instantly available is enough to make this an important companion at your helm. You'll see.

There are 3 flavors of the app - East Coast, Gulf, and West Coast - only $19.99 each. The East Coast covers Maine to the Keys including the west coast of Florida. The Gulf app covers the whole state of Florida through Texas. The West Coast app covers the entire west coast, Alaska, and Hawaii. And for this low price, a single license can be loaded on both your iPhone and iPad.

So here's what you need to do. If you have an iPhone or iPad, buy this product. You'll love it. If you've been on the fence about getting an iPhone, it's time to jump off and get one. This app is reason enough to get an iPhone or iPad now. You won't be sorry.

Then go to the App Store and write a review. This app is new and needs reviews. We know our captains are the world's best reviewers! Your reviews will bring new users into the ActiveCaptain community. More users means more updates, more reviews, and better data for all of us.

Yachting Magazine Looks at the Future of Cruising Guides
===========================================================
Yachting Magazine took a look at the future of cruising guides. They see GPS positioned points of interest data from the internet as the future. Where does ActiveCaptain fit with this? We'll let them say it: "The most compelling example of the concept as applied to boating in general and cruising in particular is the ActiveCaptain website."

Hot Co-Op for Fuel
=====================
What happens when you combine one of the best fuel prices going with a Co-Op? You get an unbelievable deal for ActiveCaptain users.

Sea Fuels Marine Services in New Bedford, Massachusetts consistently has one of the lowest prices in our fuel database. They recently signed on to the Co-Op program and are offering an additional $0.15 off per gallon with a Co-Op code. They keep their prices low by selling large quantities to commercial vessels. John Liarikos, president at Sea Fuels, told us he wants to draw in recreational vessels as well and given his Co-Op offer, we'd say he's serious.

If you are anywhere near Buzzards Bay and need fuel, check out the Sea Fuels Co-Op:

Android/Droid Update
=========================
No, we haven't forgotten about Android. The development is difficult but we're working with a developer to make it happen. Initially we only wanted a simple app to have online access to the ActiveCaptain database. What we realized is that it has to have charts and has to support ActiveCaptain offline with full synchronization. It will take time and the development is slow. We know many of you would like it. We're a good season or two away from it though and will provide more updates as we have more to tell.

Our Winter 2009-2010 cruise has come to an end. We're leaving aCappella for the Summer on the Chesapeake and driving back to Maine. We'll have to learn to live with a king size bed, ready transportation, and as much hot water as we could ever want. Already we long for next fall when we step back onboard.

For now we'll dedicate our time to land-based pleasures and continue our work on ActiveCaptain. There is so much happening and totally new capabilities being developed right now. Wait until you see what we're doing with saving and sharing routes from your chartplotter!

Keep adding your updates - we'll be living vicariously through your adventures this summer.

Wishing everyone calm seas!
