New Points Award!
=================================================
We're pleased to welcome DIY Boat Owner magazine as a new Points Partner. DIY is a fantastic magazine with great tips for boaters who like to "do it themselves." Long before there was ever an ActiveCaptain, we subscribed to DIY to help us learn about maintaining our boat. Now it's available electronically with some other benefits - our captains should experience it.

Starting today, every captain who obtains 100 points will be offered a free electronic issue of the latest DIY Boat Owner magazine along with an offer to subscribe to the magazine.

DIY Boat Owner is a quarterly magazine for serious do-it-yourself boaters. From maintenance and repairs to upgrades and improvements, DIY is the only magazine dedicated solely to helping you care for your boat, increase your self sufficiency, and save money.

Why subscribe to DIY?

- DIY is the only maintenance magazine endorsed by BoatUS
- DIY is the only maintenance magazine that follows ABYC standards
- You get four quarterly issues -- plus a new story every weekday on DIY-Boat.com
- An Ask the Expert feature allows you to pose questions that are directly relevant to your boat or project and receive answers on the website or in the magazine.

To learn more about DIY Boat Owner magazine, see:
http://www.DIY-Boat.com/

Take this opportunity to try a real issue of DIY and see for yourself. As always, if you already have 100 points you will automatically qualify. Watch for the award email this week. If you qualify and don't receive an email, check your spam or junk mail folder and add us to your Safe Sender list.

Rescue Tape
=================================================
As long as we're talking about the points award program, we have to say something about Rescue Tape. No other product has generated more emails to us than this one. So many of our captains never knew about it and now can't live without it.

Every captain who crosses the 150 point level gets a free roll. I'll warn you that this stuff is like potato chips. One roll isn't enough! We currently have 6 rolls on aCappella (seriously).

Don't wait until you wish you had some. Get to that 150 point level to try it and then get a few extra rolls. To learn more or order some spares, go to:

Weekend Boater Article Series
=================================================
We have also added a new article series written by Jonathan Bloom. Captain Jon is a USCG licensed Master and ASA certified sailing instructor. He runs BayDeltaFun (www.baydeltafun.com) which offers a variety of sailing and boating adventures in the San Francisco Bay area, as well as sailing and boating instruction, and boat delivery services. Check out his Weekend Boater series at:

We look forward to additional articles from Captain Jon sharing his advice and experience.

ActiveCaptain Store
=================================================
The ActiveCaptain store is no longer offering VHF radios and Safety Gear. We want to concentrate on offering products that use the ActiveCaptain data, provide excellent support for those products, and sell them at the lowest price available anywhere.

If you're thinking about using MaxSea Time Zero or Rose Point's Coastal Explorer, you need to see our pricing. We know and really use this software on our own boat - we provide exceptional technical support for it. Check it out here:

And for those of you with iPad's, we know the web site doesn't work with it because of Flash. Instead, check out Navimatics Charts & Tides. It keeps all of the ActiveCaptain data offline and instantly displays it. For more information and screen shots, see:

X does that? Updating Reviews
=================================================
Often our captains want to add to, modify, or simply update a review they have previously written. Sometimes they notice a mistake. Sometimes things have changed. Sometimes they just want to confirm that things remain the same. It is very helpful to the ActiveCaptain community to have reviews that are up-to-date.

It is simple to change or add to a review or hazard comment. Go to the marina, anchorage, or hazard marker and click on Rate it or Add comment. This will bring up your old review or comment if you previously wrote one. Edit your existing review and click Submit. The new review will replace the old one.

Yes, X does that.

We have spent nearly a month boatless and while we have enjoyed catching up with family and friends, the water still calls us. For now we must live through your adventures. So remember each time you enter a review or add some information, you're letting us dream about our future time on the water.

Wishing everyone calm seas and safe travels!
