What are ActiveCaptain Points?

As you make updates, add markers, and enter reviews, you gain points. Whenever you see a review, the current number of points of the captain who wrote the review will be displayed. This gives you an indication of the experience the captain has and how much they contribute to the site.

Points are earned as follows:

    Each update accepted - 1 point
    Each new marker accepted - 10 points
    Writing a review - 10 points

The quickest way to obtain points is to write reviews. You can only write one review for each marker. If you re-review a marker, you'll be able to edit your previous review but no extra points are awarded.

ActiveCaptain Point Levels - Total Points

As you reach different point levels, you become eligible for awards. You can receive only one item or free sample for each point level and some items and samples may have restrictions such as "while supply lasts" or "for a limited time period." When you reach one of the levels you will receive an email asking for your mailing information, and, in the case of third party products, permission to pass your information along to the third party.

You can check how many total points you have by logging in and going to My Account. Your total points are also displayed on every page in the top right next to your captain name when you are logged in.

50 Points Award - PYI Clamp-Jackets

Clamp-Jackets protect you and surrounding engine components from the damage that can be caused by the sharp metal end of your engine clamps. You will receive several clamp-jackets in each of the two sizes, 1/2" and 5/16". For more information go to the Clamp Jacket web site.
